Trips with your family are great, but so are quick, fun trips with your friends to just unwind, sleep late & gamble! Â How about a place that can be both?
I just got back from a very short (less than 24 hours) overnight trip that really helped recharge the batteries. I went with 4 girlfriends (one was the Points Mom) to Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT. Â Now, before you judge…we have been playing in a girls poker group for about 10 years, so we had an ulterior motive…to play in the poker room…and we did!
We arrived at the hotel to a super helpful and nice staff. Â The hotel is very pretty with every amenity you can imagine. We valet parked the car and checked into a beautiful suite that ended up costing about $100 a person. Â We immediately relaxed with our beautiful water view from almost every window.
If you can’t steal the time away with your girlfriends, the resort surprisingly offers a lot for families as well. Â I had been here before with my husband and 3 kids…thirteen year old twins & a sixteen year old and they loved it too. Â The indoor/outdoor pool is amazing with a full poolside snack bar so they loved hanging out at the pool and swimming. There is a great kids arcade that they spent hours in (and lots of dollars), and we got to sit at the tables while they had fun. For the younger kids, they have a staff that babysits. We then headed down for dinner. Â There are endless food choices…from two food courts, a Johnny Rockets to real 5 star restaurants by Bobby Flay. We ate at Toms Urban, a middle level restaurant that was very good. Â We then left to explore the vast shopping area before we hit the tables. Â There are stores from Sephora to Victoria’s Secret to Dylan’s Candy Bar, plus a Starbucks. Â Before heading home the next morning, we had a delicious hearty breakfast at Hash House a go go.
The hotel is also nearby some great family towns…we spent a whole day exploring Mystic, Ct and had a yummy meal at the famous Mystic Pizza. Â We further enjoyed a great afternoon/ dinner time in Stonington, CT which besides enjoying the most delicious meal at Noah’s Restaurant, we found some very rare Pokemon.
So, it’s a great place to visit with or without kids. Â I haven’t even touched upon all of the concerts and comedy shows that the hotel has to offer. Â However, on those nights the hotel tends to be more expensive and more crowded.
Despite the Points Mom being with us, we paid for our room. Â Or should I say, the Points Mom, true to form, paid for our room and collected the cash. Â She used her new Chase Sapphire Reserve card and earned 3x Ultimate Rewards points on the stay.
Looking forward to a spring repeat of our 24 hour girls getaway!
