Below, I outline the main ways in which to earn and accumulate Chase Ultimate Rewards points.
1. Points can be earned by using one of a variety of Chase credit cards that earn Ultimate Rewards
Chase Sapphire Preferred-You get 2X Chase Ultimate Rewards points on travel such as airfare and hotels and 3x on dining. You also earn 3 points per $1 on ONLINE grocery purchases, 3 points per $1 on select streaming services, 5x points per $1 on Lyft rides through March 2022, and 5x points per $1 on Peloton equipment. You earn 1x on all other purchases.
Chase Sapphire Reserve-You get 3X Chase Ultimate Rewards points on travel such as airfare and hotels and on dining. You earn 1x on all other purchases.
Chase Freedom-With this card, your cash back earnings can be redeemed for Chase Ultimate Rewards points if you also have the Chase Ink Business Preferred, Chase Sapphire Preferred card or Chase Sapphire Reserve. So I will talk about both cash and points here…..
Earn 5% cash back or 5X Ultimate Rewards points per dollar on up to $1,500 spent in bonus categories each quarter. Chase Freedom Unlimited-With this card, your cash back earnings can be redeemed for Chase Ultimate Rewards points if you also have the Chase Ink Business Preferred, Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve. So I will talk about both cash and points here…..Earn 5% or 5 points per dollar on on travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards, Earn 3% or 3 point on dining at restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery services, Earn 3% or 3 point on drugstore purchases,
Earn 1.5% cash back or 1.5X Ultimate Rewards points per dollar on EVERY purchase.
Chase Freedom Flex-With this card, your cash back earnings can be redeemed for Chase Ultimate Rewards points if you also have the Chase Ink Business Preferred, Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve. So I will talk about both cash and points here…..Earn 5% or 5 points per dollar on on travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards, Earn 3% or 3 point on dining at restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery services, Earn 3% or 3 point on drugstore purchases, Earn 5% or 5x points on up to $1,500 spent in bonus categories each quarter. Chase Ink Business Preferred -You earn 3 points total for each $1 of the first $150,000 spent each account anniversary year on combined purchases in the following rewards categories: shipping; advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines; travel; internet, cable, and phone services. Earn 1 point per $1 on all other purchases. 9
You also earn Ultimate Rewards with a Chase Ink Business Plus card (not available to new card members). You earn 5X Ultimate Rewards points per $1 on the first $50,000 spent in combined purchases at office supply stores and on cellular phone, landline, internet and cable TV services each account anniversary year and 2X Ultimate Rewards points per $1 on the first $50,000 spent in combined purchases at gas stations and hotel accommodations when purchased directly with the hotel each account anniversary year. You also earn 1X point on all other purchases.
2. Points can be earned by shopping online at the Chase Ultimate Rewards Mall
The Chase Ultimate Rewards Mall has over 300 top-brand retailers online and you can earn up to 10 extra points per dollar when you shop top retailers online, like Best Buy® Lowe’s, Macy’s and more. Note, you cannot access the Chase Ultimate Rewards mall without being a cardmember of an Ultimate Rewards earning credit card.
3. Points can be earned when you book travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel
You get 1 extra Ultimate Rewards point per dollar spent when you book your airfare or hotel accommodations through Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel. You must pay for your travel with one of your Chase Ultimate Rewards cards. This means, for example, that if I am paying for the travel with my Sapphire Preferred, I am actually getting 3X Ultimate Rewards points per dollar as the Sapphire already gives me 2X on travel.
The two Ultimate Reward yielding Chase credit cards that are currently in my wallet and that I break out all of the time are the Chase Freedom Card and the Chase Sapphire Card. The Chase Ink may be in my future. From these two cards, I earn many many Ultimate Rewards Points.
