The Marriott Rewards Program has been combined with the SPG Program to become one program. You can get all the details of the combined Marriott/SPG Program here.
Now that you have accumulated all of these Marriott Points, how can you use these Marriott points for free travel? The options are listed below. Also click here to read about how The Points Mom used Marriott Rewards points for free travel in Hawaii, Florida, Vegas, Park City, and Paris.
1. Convert Points to Free Nights
You can convert your Marriott Rewards points into free nights at Marriott Resorts (and their partner Ritz Carlton Resorts). The number of points you need, depends on the Hotel Category. In contrast to other hotel loyalty programs, Marriott Rewards has the added benefit of allowing you to book stays on points before you even have the points in your rewards account. Also, when you redeem 4 nights, you get the 5th night free. Note, when you use rewards nights, these nights count towards Marriott Elite Status. Lastly, if your dates are flexible, Marriott Rewards offers PointSavers, where rooms usually require up to 33% less points to redeem. There are new PointSavers deals every week.

2. Use Points For Room Upgrades
Upgrade rewards are available for 5,000 points each. Most rooms require only one upgrade reward per night. However, some hotels require two or more upgrade rewards per night, depending on the view or room type. Availability varies by hotel.
Some upgrades require payment in local currency and cannot be purchased with Marriott Rewards points. So be sure to check the room description when you book online.
3. Use Points + Cash For Nights
If you don’t have enough points, consider booking with Cash + Points. Similar to when redeeming nights for points, the cash and point requirement depends on the hotel category. Note, you get the fifth night free when you book using Cash + Points as well.
4. Convert Points To Airline Miles
You can convert your Marriott Rewards points to airline miles. The number of points required for airline miles depends on the airline. Click here to see redemption requirements. One airline worth mentioning is United. You get a 20% discount when you convert Marriott Rewards points to United MileagePlus miles with RewardsPlus, a new program created by Marriott and United.
5. Use Points For Other Travel Rewards
You can also use your Marriott Points to book
