Will Items Booked By The Concierge And Added To My Hotel Bill Count As Charges Entitled To Bonus Points?

I honestly do not know how I have never thought about this strategy to earn additional hotel points until now.  You see, I called the concierge at the Westin in Whistler to inquire about a car to get from the Vancouver airport to the hotel.  Recall, we are staying at the Westin on our upcoming trip to Whister in a couple of weeks.  The concierge booked the car for us and also inquired as to whether I wanted her to book lift tickets.

It dawned on me that these would be charges that would be added to our hotel bill.  I will pay our hotel bill with an American Express Starwood Preferred Guest card and earn 2 SPG points with the card.  The charges many even be considered hotel charges and if that is the case, I would earn an additional 3 SPG points on these charges as a Starwood Preferred Guest Gold Member.

I will let you know how these charges were classified and what I earned on them upon our return, but if this works, I will be using the concierge to book and charge all of our activities in the future!   Will be back……

UPDATE-they were not classified as hotel charges-oh well but I still earned 2 SPG points on the charges when I used my SPG card to pay my hotel bill.

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
