This is a later update to my original update about Alaska Airlines status changes due to covid.

When you join the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Program, you are a Mileage Plan member.  Additionally, the program offers MVP, MVP Gold, MVP Gold 75k and MVP Gold 100k elite status.

You can reach Medallion Status through miles or segments flown in a calendar year. The requirements are as follows:

Qualifying flightsMVPMVP GoldMVP Gold 75KMVP Gold 100K
Eligible miles earned on Alaska Airlines20,00040,00075,000100,000
Segments flown on Alaska Airlines and elite-qualifying partners1306090140

In addition to the above, if you are qualifying via eligible miles or segments, you must have a minimum number of flights marketed and operated by Alaska Airlines: Gold-2, MVP Gold-6, MVP Gold 75K-12, MVP Gold 100K-24.

Looking backwards…

For members who held elite status as of January 1, 2021 that did not re-qualify by year end 2021, your status is extended through April 30, 2022.

To keep your status through December 31, 2022, earn the following number of base flight miles between January 1 and April 30, 2022.

MVP members: 5,000 miles
MVP Gold members: 10,000 miles
MVP Gold 75K members: 20,000 miles

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
