When you join American Airlines AAdvantage , you are an AAdvantage member.  Additionally, the program offers Gold, Platinum, Platinum Pro and Executive Platinum status. As of January, 2022, American Arlines made the metric for qualifying for status, Loyalty Points.

Also, as of January, 2022, you’ll qualify for status based on the Loyalty Points posted to your account for the 12-month period starting on March 1 of each year instead of using a calendar year for qualifications (so activity between March 1 and February 28th of the following year). So now the AAdvantage status membership year will be valid through March 31 of each year.

What are the Elite Qualification Levels of Loyalty Points?

Gold-30,000 Loyalty Points

Platinum-75,000 Loyalty Points

Platinum Pro-125,000 Loyalty Points

Executive Platinum-200,000 Loyalty Points

How do you earn Loyalty Points?

2. Spend with an American Airlines AAdvantage credit card-You will earn one Loyalty Point for every one eligible AAdvantage mile earned from purchases using your credit card. There are a lot cards, namely from Citibank and Barclays

3. Earn even more with certain American Airlines AAdvantage credit cards…
If you have an American AAdvantage Aviator Silver Mastercard, you can earn 5,000 Loyalty Points if you spend $20,000 during the status qualification period. You can earn an additional 5,000 Loyalty Points during the same status qualification period if you spend $40,000 and an additional 5,000 Loyalty Points during the same status qualification period if you spend $50,000 with the card.For now, the status qualification period runs from January 1, 2022 through February 28, 2023. Beginning on March 1, 2023, the status qualification period will run from March 1 through the end of February of the following year.

4. And if you have a Citi Executive AAdvantage Card you can earn a 10,000 Loyalty Point bonus after reaching 50,000 Loyalty Points in a status qualification year. Earn another 10,000 Loyalty Point bonus after reaching 90,000 Loyalty Points in the same status qualification year.
