When you join Delta SkyMiles, you are a SkyMiles member. Additionally, the Delta SkyMiles Medallion Program offers Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond Status.
You can reach Medallion Status through your annual spending (MQDs or Medallion Qualifying Dollars) in a given year for the following year. The requirements are as follows:
SILVER- $5,000 MQDs
GOLD-$10,000 MQDs
PLATINUM-$15,000 MQDs
DIAMOND-$28,000 MQDs
Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) are the sum total of the SkyMiles member’s spend on Delta-marketed flights (flight numbers that include the “DL” airline code), and select partner airline flights ticketed through Delta, inclusive of the base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges, but exclusive of government-imposed taxes and fees.
You do earn MQDs when you use Delta SkyMiles to book a Delta operated flight. The MQDs you earn are based on a value of $0.01 per mile.
And know, you can also earn MQDs with Delta credit cards as follows:
American Express Delta SkyMiles Platinum and the American Express Delta SkyMiles Platinum Business Card-You will start 2024 and each year after with $2500 MQDs and you will earn a terrible rate of 1 MQD for every $20 spent.
American Express Delta SkyMiles Reserve Card and the American Express Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business Credit Card-You will start 2024 and each year after with $2500 MQDs and you will earn a terrible rate of 1 MQD for every $10 spent.
