Learn About The Southwest Rapid Rewards Program Here

When you join the Southwest Rapid Rewards program, you are a “member”.  Additionally, the program offers A-List and A-List Preferred Status. Your A-List or A-List Preferred Status is determined based on meeting the below qualifications:

A-List–   you need to fly 25 qualifying one-way flights booked through Southwest Airlines or earn 35,000 Tier Qualifying Points per calendar year

A-List Preferred–    you need to fly 50 qualifying one-way flights booked through Southwest Airlines or earn 70,000 Tier Qualifying Points per calendar year (go even higher to get to Companion Status)

Companion Pass Status-In addition to having A-List Preferred status benefits, if you earn 125,000 Companion Pass Qualifying Points or fly 100 qualifying one-way flights booked through Southwest Airlines per calendar year, you will qualify for a Companion Pass. Read more about Companion Pass here.

Note that you earn Tier Qualifying Points when you purchase flights.  The amount and type of fare you choose determines how many points you earn.  The more money you spend, the more points you earn.  You also earn Tier Qualifying points by using your Chase Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Premier Card and the Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority Card and the Chase Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Performance Business Card and the Chase Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Premier Business Card-You receive 1,500 TQPs for every $10,000 in purchases on your card. The maximum amount of TQPs you can receive from the Premier or Priority card is 15,000 ($100,000 in purchases) per year.

Note that you do not earn Tier Qualifying points when you fly on an award flight or if you are flying on a companion pass.

A-List and A-List Preferred qualification is based on a calendar year.  You will achieve or maintain A-List or A-List Preferred status for the remainder of the calendar in which the status was earned and for the entire calendar year immediately following.

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
