The usual sign-up offer for the American Express Platinum Delta SkyMiles Card is to earn 5,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) and 35,000 bonus Skymiles after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening. But until June 30, 2015, this initial sign-up bonus has increased to 10,000 MQMs and 60,000 bonus Skymiles after you spend $2,000 on purchases in the first 3 months. In addition, you earn a $100 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase with your new Card within your first 3 months. There is a $195 annual fee for the card.
Don’t forget, with the card, you earn 2 miles per $1 spent on Delta airline tickets and 1 mile for every dollar you spend on all your other purchases. If in any calendar year, if you spend $25,000 or more on the card, you will be awarded 10,000 bonus SkyMiles and 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles and if in that same calendar year you spend $50,000 or more, you will be awarded an additional 10,000 bonus SkyMiles and 10,000 MQMs. Upon renewing your card, you get a Companion Certificate. There are no foreign transaction fees and primary card members can check their first bag free with the card.
