If your teens are traveling on an organized trip this summer, there is no reason why they shouldn’t be earning credit for their flights. Even if you do not have that six digit confirmation code, you can still add your child’s frequent flier number to their reservation.
I had the information (not the confirmation number) for my son’s flight out west. I called the airline (United) and provided his name, date of flight and flight number. United found his reservation and added his United MileagePlus number. He will now earn credit for his flight.
I know I am making the assumption that your children have frequent flier accounts with the airline. But I hope they do. As I indicate in number 8 of my 10 Steps To Get Started, it is never too early for your kids to have their own loyalty accounts.
As for miles expiring due to lack of activity, that is a whole other issue that I can help you deal with. Click here to learn how to prevent miles from expiring because of inactivity.
I feel relieved that my son will earn United miles on his flight. Now if only I could figure out how to get my son credit for his hotel stays. 🙂
Have fun this summer lucky kids (and parents too)!
