I got the following letter from Citibank the other day regarding my Citi Hilton HHonors Visa card.

I called Citibank out of curiosity to find out their policy.  My card had been inactive for 25 months (don’t forget, this card has no annual fee) and they said it was time.  Oh well, but it is not like I used the card anyway and luckily, canceling a card should have a minimal effect on my credit score.

The only slight problem that I now foresee, is that I really do not have a card that I could use to earn a maximum amount of Hilton HHonors points if I stay at a Hilton Resort.  Recall, that American Express also unilaterally canceled American Express Hilton HHonors card awhile back.  With the Citi card, I earned 6 Hilton HHonors points on stays at Hilton Resorts and with the Amex Hilton HHonors card, 7 points.  However, I do not have a Hilton stay coming up in the near future.  If I do plan one, maybe I can reapply for a Hilton card and score a new sign-up bonus!  🙂

... I saved $700 in annual fees and scored 120,000 worth of bonus points. I also got $100 off a pair of fancy headphones and $200 worth of airline gift cards. ....

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
