Yesterday I posted about earning extra Marriott Bonvoy Points when dine as a member of the Eat Around Town program. American Airlines AAdvantage has a similar program where you can earn American Airlines AAdvantage miles for doing what you do anyway, eating out and ordering in.
To be eligible to earn AA miles for dining, you need to ENROLL. Once enrolled, you need to link a credit card to your account. Personally, I linked the card that I normally use for dining, my American Express Gold card (4X on dining). However, if you want to earn even more AA miles, you can link one of your American Airlines AAdvantage cards issued by Citibank or Barclays. Just remember, I am not in favor of using co-branded credit cards for every day spend, I would much rather prefer you to use a card that earns flexible rewards unless you are really trying to accumulate Bonvoy points.
Ok, so now you have enrolled and you have linked your card, what’s next?
You order in (eventually dine out at ) a restaurant in the program and pay with your enrolled card. You can search to see the restaurants in your area by using the search function on this page. You will earn AA AAdvantage miles (in addition to what you would normally earn with your registered card) as follows:
- Basic members earn 1 American Airlines AAdvantage® mile per $1 spent if you elect to receive email communication from AAdvantage Dining.
- Select members earn 3 AAdvantage® miles per $1 spent if you elect to receive email communication from AAdvantage Dining.
- VIP members earn 5 AAdvantage® miles per $1 spent if you elect to receive email communication from AAdvantage Dining AND have already completed 11 qualified transactions in the calendar year. (Members start earning at the VIP level on their 12th qualified transaction.)
Eligible charges include food, drink, tax, and tip as charged to the registered card.
And as a new member bonus, you can earn 1,000 AAdvantage bonus miles when you spend at least $25 in your first 30 days.
