We have no school tomorrow, Monday, and my family and I have an 1130 am appointment in the city for TSA Pre√.  When I decided to take advantage of our free Sunday afternoon and head to the city to go to the 911 museum, I opted against us trekking back to the city the very next day.  Why not sleep in the city so we can have a leisurely morning before our appointment?

I currently have an excess of Starwood points right now because I have been using my American Express Starwood Preferred Guest card to accumulate Starpoints for a stay at the St. Regis in Aspen.  However, I think that we are now leaning towards Whistler for February break (we just got back and loved it), and Whistler will require a lot less Starpoints.  So I have lots of Starpoints to spare.

So here I post, from or room at the Westin New York Grand Central, where I am watching the Federer/Djokovic match with my kids, grateful for the extra time we will have before our appointment in the morning.

This hotel is an SPG Category 5 and I booked it using 12,000 Starpoints for the night.  The hotel would have cost about $260 for the night.

I want to note that based on the low price of the room, economically, we may have been better off just paying for the room instead of using 12,000 Starpoints. However, this was a last minute plan for the sake of convenience.  I could not justify spending $260 0n a whim.  For free, using 12,000 Starpoints, that’s another story.

Stay tuned for an account of our TSA Pre√ appointment tomorrow.

Go Federer!

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
