I Canceled My Amex Business Gold In Year 2

Last year I scored a 70,000 Bonus of Membership Rewards and a $300 statement credit by getting the Amex Business Gold that Rob referred to me with a 25,000 point referral bonus! That was a total of an easy 95,000 points that likely went to my stay at the Montage in Cabo this past fall.

Now, a year later, I was billed for the $295 fee for a card that I am barely using. Not to mention, Rob has the Business Gold Card in which he scores 4x points per $1 on all of his advertising. We did not need 2 of these cards.

So, I canceled this card. And since the card is a charge card and not a credit card, it didn’t affect my credit score to cancel like canceling a credit card would have.

Remember, I don’t love canceling CREDIT cards, but rather downgrading the card to a no-fee version. But with a charge card… bye-bye.

So, goodbye to my Amex Gold. It was a worthwhile year because of my bonus and Rob’s referral bonus.

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
