I Just Redeemed My Barclaycard Points For My One Night Deposit At The Broadmoor This Summer

Recall that I booked three nights at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs for Rob and I for this summer.  As I told you in that post, I plan on redeeming Barclaycard miles to pay for these 3 nights.

When I booked last month, I had to leave a one night deposit.  With the tax, this amount came to $518. I paid the deposit using my Barclaycard Arrival Plus MasterCard.  I just went online, and with the press of a few keys, redeemed 51,800 Barclaycard miles and received a credit for the $518.  In addition, I received 5180 miles back in that same transaction as you always get 10% of your miles back when you use your miles for statement credits for travel redemptions. (Note-this redemption percentage has since changed to 5%)

Although, 51,800 miles may seem high, recall that I received 40,000 BONUS MILES when I got the card and spent $3,000 in the first 90 days of account opening.

I have also been using it a lot and my miles have accumulated quickly as you earn unlimited 2X Barclaycard miles on every purchase with the card.  On anything!!!!  In my mind, this card is quickly replacing my Chase Freedom card for everyday purchases as Chase Freedom is making some negative changes when it comes to everyday spending.

So I got the first night for free with my bonus and spending thus far.  I need about another 100,000 miles for the next 2 nights.  Meaning, I need to spend about 50K on the card over the next 6 to 7 months.  (50K because I earn 2x miles on each purchase).  It will be hard, but I will try!  Worst case, I end up paying for some of the room.  After all, Rob and I do this only 1x a year for just a few days.  We’ll see…..

... I saved $700 in annual fees and scored 120,000 worth of bonus points. I also got $100 off a pair of fancy headphones and $200 worth of airline gift cards. ....

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
