JetBlue TrueBlue has a unique feature within their program called Family Pooling.  Family Pooling is just as the name indicates-you can combine your individual TrueBlue points in your respective TrueBlue accounts, together as a family, in a family pool.  In addition, you’ll be able to contribute future points to the family account for zero transfer fees.

Coming soon-there is a significant update coming to JetBlue’s “Family Pooling” option.   Soon, that option will become “Points Pooling” which will be more flexible because JetBlue members can designate a pool of up to seven TrueBlue members even if they are not family!

Every TrueBlue family pool needs a Head of Household to manage all of the points in their Family Pooling account.  In my family pool, this person is me (the obvious choice).

Families can consist of up to 2 adults and 5 children. At a minimum, there must be 2 individuals in a Family Pooling account.  Also families do not need to be real families.  The other adult in the family pool can be a friend.

Upon accepting an invitation to begin pooling, each family member will select how many points to contribute upfront and the percentage of points they want to contribute on an ongoing basis per transaction.  Changes in contribution percentages can be made once a year starting on the date the family account was formed.  For my family, all (100%) of our individual current and future points will be going into the family pool.

The person who accepts the invitation gets this big warning message before they accept.

***IMPORTANT: THE HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD (THE PERSON WHO STARTS THE FAMILY POOLING ACCOUNT) CONTROLS ALL TRUEBLUE POINTS IN THE FAMILY POOLING ACCOUNT. THE HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD CAN REDEEM TRUEBLUE POINTS FROM THE FAMILY POOLING ACCOUNT WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF FAMILY MEMBERS.

THE HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD CAN REMOVE ANY PERSON FROM THE FAMILY POOLING ACCOUNT AT ANY TIME, AND ALL TRUEBLUE POINTS WILL REMAIN IN THE FAMILY POOLING ACCOUNT. IF YOU LEAVE A FAMILY POOLING ACCOUNT OR THE HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD REMOVES YOU FROM THE ACCOUNT, YOUR TRUEBLUE POINTS WILL REMAIN IN THE FAMILY POOLING ACCOUNT.***

This message does not really apply to Rob or my 3 kids.  As my kids get older and start making some of their own travel plans (yikes!), they may begin to care and have a say as to what happens to their points.  I can say, I will be quite sad when I am faced with an empty pool in addition to my empty nest.  🙁

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
