The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card bonus has increased from 60K to 100K points through 9am on May 15, 2025.

Why This Matters:

This card has an annual fee of just $95, and to earn the 100K bonus, you need to spend $5,000 in the first 3 months. That bonus alone is worth at least $1,250 when redeemed through Chase Travel and possibly a lot more if you transfer your points to a loyalty partner.

Who Should Apply?

Basically, everyone. It’s a no-brainer given the value, but here are a few key groups who should especially consider it:

✅ Current Sapphire cardholders who are married – If you already have a Sapphire card, your spouse can apply to double your household’s points. Chase allows you to combine points with one other household member.

✅ Cardholders of other Chase cards (Freedom, Ink Cashback cards, etc.) – Adding a Sapphire Preferred makes your cashback points way more valuable since you can transfer them to the Sapphire bucket and unlock many more travel redemptions.

✅ Older kids with established credit – Many of your college-age or post-grad kids may have already gotten their first card in college. I know many already have a Freedom Unlimited. The Sapphire Preferred is a great first travel rewards card as a stand-alone or to pair with their Freedom.

✅ Anyone looking for a great starter travel card – This is an excellent low-fee, high-value card for anyone getting into points and miles.

What Can You Do with Your Points?

Once your points are in a Sapphire Preferred bucket, you have two powerful options:

1️⃣ Redeem through Chase Travel at 1.25 cents per point (vs. just 1 cent for cash back).
2️⃣ Transfer 1:1 to Chase’s travel partners, which can unlock even higher value.

Chase’s current transfer partners:
✈️ Airlines: Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Air France-KLM, British Airways, Emirates, Air France KLM, Iberia, JetBlue, Singapore Airlines, Southwest, United, Virgin Atlantic
🏨 Hotels: Hyatt, Marriott, IHG

Bonus tip: Chase occasionally offers transfer bonuses, making your points stretch even further.

Happy Travels!

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
