UnknownThere are many new offers to provide cardholders with additional value in categories that are likely getting hit a ton right now like ordering in! Over the past week, many of the banks have bombarded us with some new limited time perks when it comes to restaurant purchases. Many of these perks are in the form of expanded statement credits that are usually set aside for travel.  Both Citi and Amex have gone this route and the details are as follows…

Citi ThankYou Prestige card-One lucrative perk of the Citi ThankYou Prestige Card is the $250 Statement Credit for travel purchases each year. This $250 statement credit is an annual benefit that expires on December 31 each year. Travel Purchases are defined as purchases made within the travel category, including purchases from airlines, hotels, car rental agencies, travel agencies/travel aggregators/tour operators, commuter transportation, ferries, commuter railways, subways, taxis/limousines/car services, passenger railways, cruise lines, bridge and road tolls, parking lots/garages, and bus lines.

But because of Covid-19, we are not really traveling and many are no longer commuting.  Citibank, being sensitive to the fact that many of us will not be able to use the travel credit in 2020, has expanded the credit so that it now covers dining purchases and supermarkets.  So you can now use the $250 credit for those purchases by December 31, 2021.  Thanks Citi!

EXPIRED-Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card-Recall that with your Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card you receive up to $300 in statement credits each year of Card Membership for eligible purchases at Marriott Bonvoy hotels.  These purchases can include room rate. Incidental charges (including charges made at restaurants, spas and other establishments within the hotel property) must be charged to your room and paid for with your Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card at checkout in order to be recognized as Marriott Bonvoy purchases. But on a side note, I do not think you need to be staying at the resort to get the credit, read why here.

However, without us really traveling due to Covid-19, Amex has made the credit easier to use.  From June 1, 2020 through August 31, 2020 purchases made at restaurants located in the U.S. on your Bonvoy Brilliant card will qualify toward the total amount of statement credits you can receive as part of the $300 Bonvoy Resort Statement Credit benefit.

EXPIRED-Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card-There is a similar deal with your Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card. Recall, you receive a $250 HILTON RESORT STATEMENT CREDIT for eligible purchases at participating Hilton Resorts.  These purchases can include room rate. Incidental charges (including charges made at restaurants, spas, and other establishments within the hotel property) must be charged to your room and paid for with your Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card at checkout in order for them to be recognized as Hilton Resort purchases. Again, I do not think you need to be staying at the resort to get the credit, read why here.

However, without us really traveling due to Covid-19, Amex has made the credit easier to use.  From June 1, 2020 through August 31, 2020 purchases made at restaurants located in the U.S. on your Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card will qualify toward the total amount of statement credits you can receive as part of the $250 Hilton Resort Statement Credit benefit.

Thx Amex!

EXPIRED-Capital One Venture and Spark Miles cards-With the Venture Rewards card and the Spark Miles card, through September 30, 2020, April 30, 2021 June 30, 2021 you can redeem miles (normally just meant for travel) for restaurant delivery.

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
