Know That The Annual Fee Does Not Count Towards Your Minimum Spend

Be on the lookout for good credit card point bonus offers and take advantage of them.  Many credit card companies offer big point bonuses when you meet certain minimum spend requirements in a given amount of time. In addition, within many of these offers, the annual fee is waived the first year.  Recently, Rob and I got credit cards that yielded us 245,000 miles and points!

One of my tips for earning extra points and miles is to apply for cards that offer sign-up bonuses and then get the bonus!  How do you get the bonus?  You get the bonus by meeting minimum spend requirements in the required amount of time (most of the time, 3 months).

If you are anything like me and you plan on retiring this new card once you hit the minimum spend, make sure you actually hit it.  One important thing to note is that annual fees do not count towards the minimum spend requirement.  This minimum spend requirement must be met with purchases.  Be mindful of this fact and keep racking up those bonuses!!!

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
