Maximizing Benefits: How I Added My Corporate Amex Card to My Personal Account

I recently discovered a valuable tip for American Express cardholders that I’m excited to share. If you have a corporate Amex card through your employer, there’s a special offer you might not know about that could save you money on your personal card annual fees.

The Corporate Card Situation

When I received my corporate American Express card for business travel (like my recruitment trips to Cornell University), I initially made a rookie mistake. Not having done this before, I created a separate American Express account specifically for this corporate card, not realizing it could be added to my existing personal account where I already had both my Gold and Platinum cards.

The Hidden Benefit

A friend informed me about a special Amex offer: if you have a corporate card, you can possibly qualify for annual credits on the following personal cards – $150 back for Platinum, $100 back for Gold, $75 back for Green and $50 back for the Blue Cash PREFERRED. If you want to apply for any of these personal Amex cards, you can confirm your eligibility here to see if you will qualify for the credit.

BTW, if you do think you want one of these Amex cards and aren’t sure which one, reach out to my mom, who is The Points Mom, and she can help you choose. Not only will you get the statement credit from the corporate card benefit, but she will make sure you knock down your annual fees even more by making sure you use ALL of your card benefits. Trust me, I know!

As for me, being the son of The Points Mom, I already had the Amex Platinum and Amex Gold. Initially, I assumed I wouldn’t be eligible for the credits since I wouldn’t be a new applicant.

My skepticism led me to chat directly with Amex, where I learned something interesting. For a limited time, American Express is allowing these credits to be added to existing cards, applying them to future annual fees upon renewing my personal Platinum and Gold cards!

My Roadblock and Solution

Unfortunately, I faced a hurdle – my corporate card was on a separate account, making me ineligible for these credits. Not willing to miss out on this opportunity, I reached out again to American Express customer service.

To my surprise, the solution was simple. The representative easily transferred my corporate card from the separate account to my personal account. Once they were on the same account, I was able to add the benefit program.

The Result

Now, I’ll be receiving annual credits of $100 for my Gold card AND $150 for my Platinum card – a significant saving on my PERSONAL annual fees!

Take Action

If you have a corporate American Express card, I strongly recommend calling Amex to inquire about this offer, especially if you already have one of the four eligible personal Amex cards. Even if your corporate card is on a separate account like mine was, they can help consolidate your accounts and potentially save you hundreds of dollars annually.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to maximize your card benefits!
