Never Leave Any Credits on the Table: Making the Most of My Delta Reserve Benefits

I recently picked up the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card, with an increased 110K-mile welcome offer towards the end of March. As I mentioned in a prior post, I got this card to help me reach Delta Platinum status in 2025. However, with its hefty $650 annual fee, I wanted to start taking advantage of the benefits immediately to offset some of that cost.

There are two monthly statement credits on the Delta Reserve that I plan to use every month, though they will require some effort based on where I live.

$20 Monthly Resy Credit

The Delta Reserve offers a $20 per month statement credit at a restaurant that happens to be on Resy. The great part? You don’t need to book through Resy—just dine at a participating restaurant and pay with your card.

The challenge? Living in the suburbs means there aren’t many (or any) local places I frequent that are on Resy. So, I’ll have to make sure I get to one each month. Fortunately, I travel often and visit NYC regularly since my son lives there. If I ever find myself short on time, I can always tell my son to use the credit on my behalf.

$10 Monthly Rideshare Credit

Unlike the Uber Cash I get with the The Platinum Card® from American Express and American Express® Gold Card (which can be used for Uber Eats), the Delta Reserve’s rideshare credit is strictly for rides—not food delivery. Since I almost never use Uber in the suburbs, this one will be even trickier to maximize. Again, my son is my backup plan if I don’t need a ride myself.

March Win: Perfect Timing!

Even though I got my Delta Reserve in the last week of March, I lucked out with a perfect opportunity to use both credits. I had a show booked in NYC for March 29th—just two days before my credits expired. Uber, please! And for dinner, I had an amazing meal at RedFarm on the Upper West Side, a restaurant that just so happens to be on Resy.

That’s a nice $30 savings off my night, thanks to my card benefits!

Final Thoughts

While these credits require some planning, I refuse to leave any benefits on the table. With a little effort (and possibly some help from my NYC-based son), I’ll make sure I get my money’s worth from the Delta Reserve each month.

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
