Ok, Rob Will Take 2,500 United MileagePlus Miles For His 9 Hour Delay In Denver…But IMO It Should Be More

Rob was flying home from Aspen yesterday (on his free flight) and his plane to Denver was delayed due to “aircraft maintenance”.  Then it was delayed again.  And again.  Needless to say, he missed all of the connections from Denver to New York.  He ended up taking the red eye home.

United was pretty on top of it and emailed Rob that same day with an apology and an offer for a $50 voucher (no thanks-it expires in a year) or 2,500 United Mileage Plus miles.  He took the miles. And BTW-they posted immediately to his United Mileage Plus account.

On the upside, Rob being an additional cardholder on my Chase Sapphire Reserve card has his own Priority Pass card.  He was able to shave $28 off his dinner bill at Timberline Steaks and Grill, the only Priority Pass “lounge” in the Denver airport (Weird).  Unfortunately, he was not able to combine that $28 with the $20 credit United gave him (should have been higher for that long of a delay), so he bought lots of Chex Mix at the airport.  Our son, Daniel, will be very happy!

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
