A friend of mine recently had a surprise 45th birthday party. I stepped up to organize the group gift.

I ended up collection $100 per couple from 31 couples and used that money to purchase gift cards, most with no fees.  For the first time, I held the checks till my actual credit card bill came so that the $3,100 charge was not overwhelming.

I easily earned 3,100 in rewards and will try be the organizer of more gifts in the future. 🙂
