Our last night in Vancouver, we stayed by the airport because we had a very early flight the next day.  We had dinner at the Vancouver Hilton Airport Hotel in their restaurant CAVU Kitchen Bar, which was actually really good!  The dinner bill for the 5 of us was $120, before tax and tip.  This $120 charge yielded me 3,200 Hilton HHonors points!  Here is how…

1,200 points- As a Hilton HHonors member, I earn ten base points for every dollar spent on room rate and other eligible room charges- (ie-hotel restaurants).

1200 points-Because I spent money at the resort during the Double Hilton HHonors promotion which allowed me to earn double my base points.  This offer expired on 8/31.  Note, I did not plan this double point bonus.  I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

600 points-In addition, to the 10 base points, I earn 5 bonus points for every dollar spent on room and other eligible charges at the hotel.  I earn these 5 additional Hilton HHonors points because I have chosen the Points & Points Earning Style in my Hilton HHonors profile.

180 points- Because as a silver elite member, I get a 15% bonus on base points earned.  I had the silver elite status because having a Citi Hilton HHonors Visa Signature Card automatically qualifies me for silver status.  And although Citi canceled my card back in June (my Hilton charge was in August), I must have still had silver status.  I actually just got a new Citi Hilton card,  so now I maintain my silver status.

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
