I just joined PointsHound and although we typically do not pay for hotel stays, I will let you know if and when I use it. PointsHound is an online hotel booking site. It has partnered with US frequent flier programs to offer bonus miles to members that book and stay at hotels reserved through the PointsHound site. Some notable airline partners’ loyalty programs include Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, JetBlue TrueBlue and American AAdvantage Miles.
The number of miles earned per stay, depends on which airline’s frequent flier program you selected when making the reservation. Each airline program’s earning potential is different. The amount of miles earned is based on an algorithm that takes into account the hotel you select, the loyalty currency you choose to earn, and your level on PointsHound.com. The more room nights you book on PointsHound.com, the higher your earn rate becomes. (Right now I am level 1–the lowest level)
Points earned through PointsHound.com will not post to your account until after you complete the hotel stay. Posting times vary by program but are typically 2-6 weeks from completion of your hotel reservation. Also, generally speaking, you can still earn the hotel reward points during your stay as well, in addition to the frequent flier miles that you are earning with PointsHound. This double dipping could potentially be very rewarding!!
