I just joined Rocketmiles and although we typically do not pay for hotel stays, I will let you know if and when I use it. Rocketmiles, similar to PointsHound, is an online hotel booking site. It has partnered with many frequent flier programs to offer bonus miles to members that book and stay at hotels reserved through the Rocketmiles site. Some notable airline partners’ loyalty programs include United MileagePlus, JetBlue TrueBlue, British Airways Executive ClubAmerican AAdvantage Miles, Southwest Rapid Rewards, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan, and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.

When you book your hotel through Rocketmiles, you earn a certain number of miles per night.  The number of miles earned per stay, depends on which airline’s frequent flier program you selected when making the reservation. Each airline program’s earning potential is different. The amount of miles earned is based on patent pending technology based on your travel dates, destination city, hotel supply and preferred loyalty currency.  You can view the earning potential of each airline in the Rocketmiles Terms and Conditions.

Within a few days of check-out, Rocketmiles confirms the stay has been completed and sends the reward to your loyalty program for posting. Most loyalty programs post these rewards within 2 weeks.  You can view the status of all your rewards by logging into your Rocketmiles account.

Two additional things I would like to point out.  First, hotel rewards points will not be earned in addition to your Rocketmiles preferred currency.  Second, you can have your Rocketmiles transferred to someone else’s loyalty program account.  So when you log in and make a reservation, you can select into which loyalty account you would like the points or miles posted once the stay is completed.

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
