The DoubleTree by Hilton Vail….A Great New Option For Those Booking A Vail Ski Trip!

Attention Skiers!

We now have a new option to stay at Vail using rewards.  This past winter, the DoubleTree by Hilton Vail opened less than two miles from Vail Mountain and it looks really nice in the pics!

The hotel has a free shuttle service to the mountain, an onsite ski rental shop, an outdoor heated pool and a 24-hour fitness center.  There are two restaurants on the property and a lobby bar.  The hotel offers standard guest rooms as well as suites with kitchens and separate living areas, ideal for big families!

I did some quick searches and the amount of Hilton Honors points required by night ranges from 45,000 (low season) to 80,000 (high season).  Paying for the hotel will run you about $400-$500 per night during the winter, with much lower rates in the off season.  Pretty good deals all around when compared with many of the other Vail properties.

And need I remind you of how easy it is to earn a bunch of Hilton Honors points?  As I recently posted about, through June 27, 2018, there are increased bonus offers for American Express Hilton cards.  It would be a good time to apply for a card (or 2!), for a big influx of points.  Once you have one of the cards, there are lucrative earning opportunities on all of your spend, not just 1:1.

Also, remember that Hilton Honors is a partner of American Express Membership Rewards. You can transfer your Membership Rewards points, in 1,000-point increments, to your Hilton Honors account. At the time of this post, 1000 American Express Membership Rewards points equal 2000 Hilton Honors points, a ratio much greater than 1:1—Nice!

Lastly, don’t forget, when you book a Hilton property using points, you get the 5th night free.  So a 5 night stay at this property would run you 320,000 points during ski season (not 400,000).

Of course, if you pay for your stay, you earn ten (10) base points for every dollar spent on your room rate and other eligible room charge.  Hilton Honors elite members earn bonus points on the ten base points per $1 as follows:  Silver 20% point bonus, Gold 80% point bonus, Diamond 100% point bonus.  You earn even more points if you use one of your American Express Hilton Honors cards to pay for your stay.

I will definitely check this property out one day.  It looks like a great option!

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
