UnknownYesterday, United Continental announced that its CEO Jeff Smisek is resigning.  This is likely due to a federal investigation into the relationship between the airline and the Port Authority.

The Port Authority oversees Newark airport, one of United’s biggest hubs.  Investigators are looking into  whether or not Smisek and former Port Authority chairman, David Samson, worked together to arrange direct flights to go from Newark to Columbia, SC…where Samson had a vacation house. It was a money-losing flight that was canceled right after the Samson left the Port Authority.  Hmmm.
