
Below, I outline the main ways in which to earn and accumulate United MileagePlus miles.
1. Fly United or United Express.
Members earn 5 miles per $1 on fare. Premier members earn more. Silver members earn 7 miles per $1 spent on flights, Gold members earn 8, Platinum members 9 and 1K members 11 miles per $1.
2. Fly with United’s airline partners
United is a member of the Star Alliance Network and you can earn and use MileagePlus miles on any Star Alliance member airline. Premier members also get more miles when they fly with partners. See details here.
3. Use your Chase United MileagePlus Explorer Visa, MileagePlus Explorer Business Visa, United MileagePlus Club Card, or United MileagePlus Club Business Card

When you use your Chase United MileagePlus Explorer Visa card you earn two MileagePlus miles for each $1 spent on United tickets purchased directly from the airline and 1 mile per $1 on all other purchases. Chase United Gateway Card–Earn 2 miles on United purchases and earn 2 miles at gas stations and on local transit and commuting and 1 mile on other purchases.

Chase United Quest Card–Earn 3 miles on United purchases and earn 2 miles per $1 spent on all other travel, including other airfare, trains, local transit, cruise lines, hotels, car rentals, taxicabs, resorts, ride share services and tolls, 2 miles per $1 spent at restaurants, 2 miles per $1 spent on select streaming and 1 mile on all other purchases.

Chase United Club Infinite Card -Earn Earn 4 miles for each $1 on purchases from United, including tickets, Economy Plus, inflight food, beverages and Wi-Fi, and other United charges. Earn 2 miles per $1 spent on all other travel purchases when you use your card to pay for hotels, cruises, rental cars, travel agencies, train tickets, taxis, tolls and parking (Click here for a complete definition of travel from Chase). Earn 2 miles per $1 spent on dining. Earn 1 mile per $1 spent on all other purchases.
When you use your Chase United MileagePlus Explorer Business Visa you earn 2 miles for each $1 spent at restaurants, gas stations, and office supply stores and 2 miles for each $1 spent on tickets purchased from United.
When you use your Chase United MileagePlus Club Card-you earn two MileagePlus miles for each $1 spent on United tickets purchased directly from the airline and 1.5 mile per $1 on all other purchases. NO LONGER OFFERED BY CHASE
When you use your Chase United MileagePlus Club Business Card-you earn two MileagePlus miles for each $1 spent on United tickets purchased directly from the airline and 1.5 mile per $1 on all other purchases. NO LONGER OFFERED BY CHASE
4. Transfer points from Chase Ultimate Rewards

If you are a member of Chase Ultimate Rewards you can transfer your Ultimate Rewards points to your United MileagePlus account. Your points transfer at 1:1 value. That means one Ultimate Rewards point equals one United MileagePlus mile.
5. Transfer Marriott Bonvoy Points to your United MileagePlus account

Normally, Marriott Bonvoy can transfer 3 Marriott Bonvoy points to receive 1 airline mile. When members transfer to Untied MilagePlus, they actually get 10% more or 1.1 United MileagePlus mile because of the RewardsPlus program. Whenever you transfer 60,000 points, you get a 15,000 point bonus. Transfer your points here to your MileagePlus account.
6. Transfer Bilt Points To Your Account
You can tranfser your Bilt Rewards Points to your MileagePlus account at 1:1.
7. Shop through the United’s MileagePlus Shopping online site
Shopping portals are a great place to rack up extra miles, you earn miles while you shop.
