When Rob and I went to Hawaii on our honeymoon back in 1998, we stayed at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa on Poipu Beach. It was on the “sunny side” of Kauai and was really nice as I remember. During that visit, we took a trip up to Princeville, the “rainy side ” of Kauai and checked out what was at that time the Princeville resort. We have regretted not staying there ever since. It was gorgeous up in that area, so lush and green and exactly how you would picture a rainforest in Hawaii.  It is where many scenes of Jurassic Park were filmed.  Also, the hotel was amazing!!  Since then, the Princeville has become the St. Regis.  Um, the St. Regis is a Starwood resort.  I was not going to make the same mistake 2x.

So at a hefty price of 30,000 Starwood points per night, I got us a room for four nights at the St. Regis Princeville Resort.  (We are going to squish in this room!)  This hotel is an SPG Category 7 property.  The room would have cost about $530 per night.  We saved about $2,100.  Needless to stay, I am very excited.  And if it rains, oh well.  There will be more rainbows!!!!

I want to note, I realize I am not following my own advice and taking advantage of that 5th night free. I hate it when I do this and only spend 4 nights. But I am opting for us to spend more time on the big island as Rob and I have never been there and I feel there is much to do!!!!!! I did get the free fifth Marriott night there !!! 🙂

A huge shout out to CINDY GREENSTEIN, aka The Points Mom, for helping me book our flights to Greece using points. Money wise it would have cost $12k. I learned so much from her! Contact her. You will not be disappointed.
